Sitanmay Maity, an IIPian, had a passion for photography and pursued it while he was a student at the IIP Institute of Cultural and Creative Arts. He was keen to learn and practice the art of photography, and this is evident from his studio practice sessions. One such session was a solo shoot, which was captured on camera, and later given a special treatment of multiple exposure and colour treatment in post-production. Today, Sitanmay Maity has come a long way in his photography journey. He is now assisting a celebrity photographer on some of India's biggest brands and advertising campaigns, a testament to his hard work and dedication towards the craft. Still-life as an art form first originated from Ancient Egyptian highly codified mortuary rituals. Egyptians at the time believed that objects represented on the walls of a tumb or inside a sarcophagus would accompany the dead in the afterlife. A Still Life is composed of a variety of both animate and inanimate objects, such as utensils, foliage, and food (anything from man-made to natural), which are then arranged by the artist in a unique way. At IIP, students firstly redefine their own visual approach by deconstructing the Man made or nature made objects.
