‘ಸೊಲ್ಮೆಲು’ In Tulu Language it means Thank you!! Indeed a thank–you it is from Anindith, MFA student at IIP from Sulya. His MFA Thesis submission - ‘Unveiling Tulunad’s Bellare: Tracing India’s Earliest Freedom Movement (1837) and the path to Heritage Conservation’ chronicles a journey of passion, academics, documentation and on field activism wherein from spreading community awareness on grass-root level by organising the 188th commemoration event (even Indian flag hoist) at that spot & on the historic date [30 March] at Southern India, where one of the first collective resistance against British colonial exploitation had begun.. Shri Rajesh Goyal Ji honoured the guide [with the shawl representing the flag of the erstwhile historic Tulunad Kingdom] as a mark of tribute from Anindith’s side, Smt. Vinati Sehgal who gave direction to Anindith in bringing out the flair and essence in writing and defining one’s role and place in the modern day and times in this legacy.. Together present were Shri Shailesh Goyal Ji, Mentor Aasif Khan, Anindith and Yogi. Vinati ma’am added: Paraphrased: she recollected how this has been a journey where we (mentor and the student) had a lot of really long conversations - given the gravity of the topic and context (which apparently was a lot to take in initially!) Rajesh sir added that it is not some conceptual type project that has been worked on, but historical subject on which work has been done - which is very very important! Poster (cover page design: done by Vinay Rai Kudla) of the thesis work was revealed during this moment.. #tulunadu #sulya #historical #karnatakadiaries #tulu #mfa #thesis #majorproject #mastersdegree #british #1937 #freedommovement #karnataka #pride #iipacademy #indianinstituteofphotography #anindithgowda #iipians

Cont. 2 📷 Re-Establishment of Analogue Photography at Indian Institute of Photography Noida, India – The Indian Institute of Photography (IIP) is proud to announce the successful re-establishment of its Analogue Photography Learning Program, marking a renewed commitment to preserving the historical and artistic significance of film photography. Today, we celebrated the conclusion of our inaugural session, led by the esteemed Veteran Photographer Jagdish Yadav. During the session, Mr. Yadav enlightened students with a comprehensive overview of the history of photography, tracing its evolution from the earliest days of film to the modern digital era. His expertise provided a unique window into the intricate development of photographic techniques and technologies. Following the enlightening discussion, students were given a practical demonstration in IIP’s state-of-the-art darkroom. Mr. Yadav showcased the use of traditional instruments and techniques, including the use of an enlarger and the D-163 processing method. This hands-on experience not only connected students with the foundational practices of black and white photography but also ignited their passion for the craft. Our students left the workshop inspired, with many expressing their intentions to delve deeper into the world of SLR cameras and film photography. Tomorrow’s session promises to further this engagement, focusing on film processing, followed by practical shooting exercises using film cameras. IIP is dedicated to fostering an educational environment where the rich legacy of film photography is appreciated and advanced. By reintroducing these traditional methods, we aim to enrich our students’ educational experience, blending historical insights with practical skills that honor the art form’s storied past.
