A one of a kind photography competition aimed at celebrating the beauty and diversity of India. The most comprehensive photography competition providing amateurs, emerging and professional photographers a distinctive opportunity to capture and share the vibrancy that is inherent in our country.

Introduction

The Indian Institute of Photography presents the Kaleidoscope 2012-2013, a photography contest aimed at capturing the uniqueness of India; mainly its people, culture and architecture. India is a country of contradictions. Nowhere else in the world will you find stray cows and dogs sharing the roads with expensive cars, or a sea of population which seems to be on the move at all times. Add to this hundreds of historical buildings and monuments preserved over centuries, and it makes for a photography heaven like none other.

It is to capture these contradictions, this uniqueness, that the IIP Kaleidoscope was established. It is through the lenses of the hundreds of aspiring and professional photographers that we want to create a one of a kind Kaleidoscope of India for the world to see.

Concept

IIP Kaleidoscope 2012-2013 Photography Awards have been conceptualized by the Indian Institute of Photography as a means to establish photography as a serious art form among aspiring photographers, and to encourage and inspire passion about photography. Through Kaleidoscope, IIP intends to build a network of young photographers, both amateurs and professionals, across the country, and provide them with a platform to share and exchange thoughts on photography. It will also be a place for prospective clients to tap into for their respective photography requirements.

The awards will promoted throughout the country through an elaborate online and offline campaign, as well as supporting campaigns in print and other mediums. For our on-ground activities, IIP will be going to Arts, Mass Comm. and Media Colleges to spread the word about the awards, establishing direct contact with students.

The best three entries in each of these categories will be awarded Indian Institute of Photography Trophies, featuring The Unkown Photographer, IIP's tribute to the hundreds of faceless photographers whose contribution towards this great art has gone unsung. The selected entries will also be displayed at the Exhibition Kaleidoscope, along with being featured in the IIP Journal 2012, which will be circulated wide and far among photography aficionados.
